Overview

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has been designed to address the shortages in specific areas. The program helps potential immigrants find the right guidance to compete, succeed, settle, and Integrate with the community.

There are base as well as enhanced streams in the OINP.

The streams aligned with the Express Entry Systems are called Enhanced Streams. The ones that are not aligned are called Base Streams.

Employer Job Offer Category

Business Categor

The Human Capital Category

This category is for skilled workers, tradespersons, and French-speaking skilled workers. International graduates from an Ontario University with a Masters or a Ph.D. can apply. You need to have any job offer or experience to apply through the Human Capital Category.

The following programs are included in the Human Capital Category: Ontario Express Sub-Stream.

Human Capital Priorities – Includes Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Skills Trades

This is for individuals looking to enter Canada on the strength of their work experience in a specific occupation.

French Speaking Skilled Workers

This program works on the same lines as Human Capital Priorities. Applicants must exhibit strong skills In French and English.

Those receiving nominations through Ontario Express Entry will get a message regarding the same. On acceptance, they can get an extra 600 CRS points and will be eligible to receive an Invitation to Apply in the subsequent Express Entry draw.

The following programs come in the Human Capital Category: International Graduates sub-stream.

It must be noted that they are not aligned with Express Entry. Applicants must create a profile and register an expression of interest (EOI.

Master’s Graduate Stream: For those who have a Master’s degree from an Ontario University

Ph.D. Graduate Stream: Those who receive a Ph.D. from an Ontario University

Application Fee: CAD 1,500

Minimum Requirements

The following three programs exist under this category.

Foreign Worker Stream: For skilled workers

International Students: for recent graduates of post-secondary institutions of the province

In-Demand Skills Stream: for intermediate skilled workers in specific sectors. They must have skills in the field of agriculture, construction, personal support workers, and trucking

Application Fee

Foreign Worker Stream and In-Demand Skills Stream – CAD 1500 for offers outside Greater Toronto Area and CAD 2000 for offers within the GTA

Minimum Requirements

Full-time and permanent job offer in the province with the license or authorization needed to do the job.

Must show Intent to live in Ontario

Those in the Foreign Workers Stream must be in a popular job with at least nine months of work experience. They must have cleared CLB 4 in the language requirement.

For those applying from the Skilled Trades Stream, the pay must be higher than the low-level wage for that skill in Ontario. They must also hold a two-year degree or diploma from an Institute in Canada.

How it Works

Create a profile on the OINP e-Filing Portal and register your Expression of Interest (EOI). The highest- ranking candidates will receive a notification in the portal. They must submit their application within 14 calendar days.

Ontario Regional Immigration Pilot

The Regional Immigration Pilot is a part of the Employer Job Offer Category and is designed to attract Immigrants to rural and small communities for meeting labor needs. Those who have a job offer in the pilot community can apply.

These three pilot communities form part of the Ontario Regional Immigration Pilot:

Chatham-Kent

Cities of Belleville and Quinte West

City of Cornwall

Applicants must have a full-time and permanent job from a local employer to be eligible to apply. You must register an Expression of interest (EOI) and mention that you want to apply under the Regional Immigration Pilot.

Business Category

This category is for those looking to start a business or buy an existing business in Ontario.

Application Fee: CAD 3,500

Minimum Requirements

Business experience of at least 24 months in the last five years

A net worth of CAD 800,000 for businesses within GTA or CAD 400,000 for those located outside GTA

A minimum personal investment of CAD 600,000 for businesses within GTA or CAD 200,000 for those outside GTA

Must have one-third equity participation in the business

Must create permanent full-time jobs for Canadian citizens or permanent residents

Those buying an existing business must meet additional requirements

How it works

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) allows applicants to select the stream that fits their qualifications best and register for a One-Key account. After creating a profile, they can complete their application and submit the required documents. Those applying through Express Entry must maintain a valid profile until nomination. Approved candidates will receive a Nomination Approval Letter and OINP Certificate via email, while Express Entry nominees earn 600 additional CRS points, facilitating an invitation for permanent residency. Graduate Stream applicants should apply through IRCC.
